Gwinnett’s newest entertainment district offers food, drinks and shopping conveniently located along the MARTA bus line. The Gwinnett County convention and Visitors Bureau (GCVB) will develop a private entertainment district on county owned land at infinite energy Center.
The mixed-use development on the campus of the Infinite Energy Center is being paused as Gwinnett County reevaluates aspects of the project and selects a new development partner.
The Revel project was being developed in partnership with North American Properties (NAP), but both sides agreed to part ways as NAP refocuses its efforts on other areas of its business.
The expansion and renovation of Infinite Energy Forum will proceed as planned. This includes more than 60,000 additional square feet of meeting space, as well as upgrades to the convention space and ballroom.
The two parking decks currently under development around the Infinite Energy Center, which are needed to handle the current and future event load, will be completed by the end of 2019. This will allow the site to accommodate nearly 3,500 more vehicles.
The 348-room, four-star Westin Atlanta Gwinnett Hotel, which is needed to service the events at the convention center, will break ground in January 2020.
The Gwinnett County convention and Visitors Bureau announced back in December plans to halt the development that it is pausing construction, but Gwinnett residents can expect to enjoy this mini city nestled around diverse communities, restaurants and entertainment.
